We Are Women, Hear Us ROAR!

Last year on my “professional” page I posted about International Women’s Day using the first picture of Sonya Heitshusen and me.

I wrote about being thankful for all of the amazing women in my life and asked you to share stories about the women you love and admire.

Everyone did that, except one person.

ONE.

That person chose to write derogatory comments about said photo, and essentially accuse us of undermining women.

Guess whose comment has stayed with me for the past year?

That ONE.

Not the dozens of comments about the incredible women in your world or how much you appreciate the work that we do, but rather - that one snarky comment. So this year on #InternationalWomensDay I’m also sharing the second picture.

It is my way of saying, take your snarky comment and shove it.

We are more than the sum of our parts and how we choose to present ourselves in any given moment.

We are multifaceted, multitasking, AMAZING women.

The point of this day is to say, “We are women, hear us roar!”....

In whatever fashion *we* choose.

In full blown hair and makeup, clothes that make us feel good, and a gorgeous professional photo?

YES.

In makeup leftover from the Lady Gaga concert the night before, our pajamas, and a selfie?

YES.

In no makeup, baseball hats and workout clothes sharing our workouts with you?

YES.

In our television hair and makeup, professional clothes, on tv telling you about what happened today?

YES.

The point is...

YOU ARE ENTITLED TO BE WHOMEVER AND WHATEVER YOU WANT TO BE WHENEVER YOU WANT TO BE!

I’m sick of women who shame other women (or anyone) for their choices.

My mission lately is to say, “You go, girl!” as much as possible and shut the hell up if I can’t.

In other words, I hope to be the ONE remembered for the JOY I injected into someone’s day, or the positive difference I made...not the sorrow or angst.
